HEAVY FUEL OIL TWIN SCREW PUMP REPAIR
A newly installed Heavy Fuel Oil Twin Screw Pump seized shortly after start up. The pump was sent back to the OEM who said it could not be fixed and a new pump was required.
Deep scoring in the rotors and casing was found to be from the OEM mechanical seals. Silicon carbide from the rotary seal faces had broken off and wedged into the gap between rotor and casing.
Pump was received by IndustriTech in pieces so we needed to put it back together without having any information from a strip and assessment.
Weld repair and machining of the drive and driven rotors.
Weld repair and boring of the ductile iron casing.
Upgrade mechanical seals to Flex-A-Seal Style 42 welded metal bellows with Tungsten rotary and stationary faces.
Pump was repaired for a fraction of the replacement cost and in 4 weeks from receipt.
Pump has been in service for over 2 years with no issues.
