OUR WORK

FUEL TERMINAL OBSOLETE FIRE PUMP REPLACEMENT

CUSTOMER:

Fuel Terminal

JOB OVERVIEW:

A Fire Pump at a fuel terminal was performing badly during statutory testing.

The pump was removed from service and was found to be corroded badly.

The diesel driver was due for a major service and the decision was made to replace the pump and driver.

CHALLENGES

  • The model of pump was obsolete so like for like replacements not available.

  • Pipe modifications were required to meet the new pump flange positions.

  • The new diesel driver has a smaller footprint than the old one meaning base plate modifications were required for both driver
    and pump.

SOLUTION:

  • Southern Cross ISO pump with a matching curve to the previous pump.

  • Internal epoxy ceramic coating applied to pump to prevent further corrosion issues.

  • New cummins diesel driver and flexible shaft coupling.

  • New suction and discharge manifold to connect new pump to existing pipework.

RESULT:

  • Pump and driver assembled on modified base plate and no plinth changes were required.

  • New pump was tested in the factory and exceeded original pumps’  performance and also complying with AS2941.
