FUEL TERMINAL OBSOLETE FIRE PUMP REPLACEMENT
CUSTOMER:
Fuel Terminal
JOB OVERVIEW:
A Fire Pump at a fuel terminal was performing badly during statutory testing.
The pump was removed from service and was found to be corroded badly.
The diesel driver was due for a major service and the decision was made to replace the pump and driver.
CHALLENGES

The model of pump was obsolete so like for like replacements not available.

Pipe modifications were required to meet the new pump flange positions.

The new diesel driver has a smaller footprint than the old one meaning base plate modifications were required for both driver
and pump.
SOLUTION:
-
Southern Cross ISO pump with a matching curve to the previous pump.

Internal epoxy ceramic coating applied to pump to prevent further corrosion issues.
-
New cummins diesel driver and flexible shaft coupling.
-
New suction and discharge manifold to connect new pump to existing pipework.
RESULT:
-
Pump and driver assembled on modified base plate and no plinth changes were required.
-
New pump was tested in the factory and exceeded original pumps’ performance and also complying with AS2941.
